McGrory's Hotel is an iconic hospitality destination renowned for its characterful environment, an emphasis on quality local food produce, and internationally famous music.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Food and Beverage Manager to oversee and enhance customer experience at our award-winning 17-bedroom hotel located on the Wild Atlantic Way in northern Donegal. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining and furthering our commitment to exceptional customer service, optimising revenue, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations within our F&B department. As we enter our second century of family ownership this is an exciting time to be joining our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, train and manage a team of servers, bartenders, and Front of House staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize revenue, including menu engineering, pricing, and upselling techniques.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of all food and beverage events, from small intimate gatherings to organising music events in keeping with McGrory's reputation to larger private parties and weddings.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Manage inventory levels, orders, and deliveries to ensure optimal stock levels while minimizing wastage.
  • Monitor customer feedback and reviews to continuously improve the quality of service and address any concerns promptly.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure seamless communication and efficient food service.
  • Implement training programs to enhance staff skills, product knowledge, and customer interaction.
  • Establish strong relationships with local suppliers to source high-quality ingredients and beverages.
  • Maintain a visible and approachable presence in the dining areas to engage with guests and address their needs.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in an operations or managerial role preferably within the food and beverage industry and ideally in a hotel or busy restaurant setting.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to understand monthly financial reports, make data-driven decisions, and contribute to budgeting processes.
  • Outstanding communication skills to interact effectively with guests, staff, and suppliers.
  • A passion for delivering an outstanding guest experience, demonstrated through previous customer service roles.
  • Flexibility to work during peak hours, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Knowledge of local food and beverage trends, as well as an understanding of dietary restrictions and preferences.
  • Food safety and hygiene certifications are a plus.

Hotel Receptionist:

The Hotel Receptionist is the first point of contact for guests and will play a crucial role in ensuring their satisfaction throughout their stay.

 Responsibilities:

 1. Greeting Guests: Warmly welcome guests as they arrive at the hotel, providing a friendly and personalized experience from check-in to check-out.

 2. Check-In and Check-Out: Efficiently manage the check-in and check-out process, ensuring accuracy in guest information, reservation details, and payment processing.

 3. Reservation Management: Handle reservation inquiries, bookings, modifications, and cancellations both over the phone and in person. Maintain an organized system for managing room availability and guest preferences.

 4. Guest Assistance: Assist guests with inquiries, requests, and concerns promptly and professionally. Provide recommendations for local attractions, dining options, and activities to enhance their stay.

 5.  Administrative Tasks: Perform various administrative duties such as answering phone calls, responding to emails, processing payments, and maintaining guest records.

 6. Maintaining Lobby Appearance: Ensure the lobby area is clean, tidy, and welcoming at all times. Monitor the overall ambiance of the lobby to create a positive first impression for guests.

 7. Collaboration: Work closely with other hotel staff members, including housekeeping, maintenance, and management, to coordinate guest services and resolve any issues that may arise.

 Requirements:

 - Previous experience in a customer service or hospitality role is preferred.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests and colleagues.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Proficiency in computer systems and basic office software.

- Ability to remain calm and composed in fast-paced environments.

- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

- Knowledge of the local area and tourist attractions is a plus.

Night Porter

Job summary

To ensure that all guests receive a warm memorable and personalised welcome to McGrorys Hotel, action any request that are asked of by guests, complete any administrative tasks accurately. Be responsible for the security and its guests overnight and to set conferences and dining rooms to agreed standard.

 Key Responsibilities

 *Ensure good communication with all departments within the hotel

*Deal with payments for guests

*Carry out setup duties

*Carry out cleaning duties/fill in checklists

*Meet and greet customers on arrival

*Up sell of products and services

*Be familiar with and promote hotel facilities and attractions

*Ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction in food and beverage

*Perform any related security as required overnight and report any irregularities to relevant       departments

*Breakfast buffet/ tables setup

Job Title: Food and Beverage Assistant

Position Summary:

As a Food and Beverage Assistant in our hotel, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests. Working closely with the Food and Beverage Manager and other team members, you will ensure the smooth operation of our restaurant and bar areas, maintaining high standards of service at all times.

 

Responsibilities:

1. Provide excellent customer service to all guests, greeting them warmly, assisting with menu choices, and addressing any inquiries or concerns promptly.

2. Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring special dietary requirements and preferences are noted and communicated to the kitchen and bar staff.

3. Serve food and beverages in a timely manner, following established service standards and presentation guidelines.

4. Clear tables and ensure that dining areas are clean, tidy, and set up according to standards before, during, and after service periods.

5. Assist with the preparation and setup of dining areas, including arranging tables, chairs, and decorations as required for special events or functions.

6. Maintain knowledge of menu items, including ingredients and preparation methods, to answer guest questions and make recommendations.

7. Handle cash and card transactions accurately, processing payments and issuing receipts in compliance with hotel procedures.

8. Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations, including food safety standards, to ensure a safe and sanitary environment for guests and staff.

9. Collaborate with kitchen and bar staff to coordinate orders and ensure efficient workflow during busy periods.

10. Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation, replenishment, and storage of food and beverage supplies.

11. Assist with the training and mentoring of new staff members, sharing knowledge and best practices to maintain service excellence.

12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Food and Beverage Manager or hotel management team.

 

Qualifications:

- Previous experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry is preferred but not essential.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests and colleagues.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities, with the capacity to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by business needs.

- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
