On the Atlantic Waters

With several golden beaches, Atlantic-bitten waters and even a surf school to boot, Inishowen is one of the Ireland’s best surfing destinations – for both beginners and pros. Indeed, just five minutes from McGrory’s, the beautiful Culdaff beach is a popular spot for surfers, with the Atlantic waves proving a huge attraction all year round.

Another spot, and perhaps more suited to beginners, is Tullagh Bay, where Inishowen Surf School hold regular classes and camps for kids and adults hoping to learn how to ride the waves. Inishowen has some of the most consistent waves in Ireland due to its exposure to South West, West and Northerly/Noreasterly Swells. Inishowen's long stretches of golden, sandy beaches make for safe surfing conditions and a pleasant environment for learning to surf. The Inishowen area has many great surfing spots with breathtaking scenery. You could be surfing alongside dolphins and seals or even catch a glimpse of the elusive but majestic basking sharks that often come to feed here in the summer months.
