Wild Ireland is a unique wild animal santuary located in Inishowen located 20 minute from McGrory's. It offers sanctuary too many animals such as Brown Bears, Wolves, Lynx and Wild Boar. Lots of wild birds call Wild Ireland home and their beautiful lake is home to swans, ducks and even otters. There is lots to see and do for children too, take the fairy trail around the rainforest, be delighted with their tales of ancient folklore and play in the play park. A great day out for all ages.
Wild Alpaca Way - Take a walk with Alpacas at Ireland's most northerly point. Explore the hills of Donegal with your very own Alpaca to guide you. Doagh Famine Village tells the story of Irish Life from the Great Famine of the 1840's through to the present day. It is located in the Isle of Doagh. A 15 minute drive from the hotel. It offers a combination of informative story telling and life size exhibits provides an informative, thought-provoking and at time humorous look at Irish Life. Attractions include original thatched Irish cottages, an Eviction Scene, Orange Hall, Republican Safe House and Irish Wake House amongst others.
An Grianan of Aileach is a 25 minute drive from the hotel loacted. It is a Neolithic burial chamber which dates from 200BC. This prehistoric enclosure was built on a hill called Grianan, which rises to a height of 808ft and commands views down Lough Foyle as well as extensive panorama covering five counties..
Inishowen Maritime Museum & Planetarium is located at the Old Coast Guard Staion in Greencastle a 15 minute drive from the hotel. The museum offers an extensive collection of artefacts and exhibitions from the sea. The Planetarium offers a full dome theatre running shows on Astronomy, Climate Change, Prehistoric Sea Monsters and one for the kids Enchanted Reef..
Fort Dunree is located in Buncrana a 20 minute drive from McGrory's. The fort is surronded by stunning scenery and walks. A visit to the Fort Dunree will include an audio visual theatre presentation, access to the museum displays which fully demonstrate life at Fort Dunree, showing its vital role in Coastal defence, neutrality protection and a range of coastal artillery. The underground bunkers also house a collection of artefacts that give meaning and insight into the day to day operation of the Fort.
